Three Things That Will Kill Your Business!

Attraction Marketing System

After being in this industry for a couple years, I have crossed nearly every type of person imaginable. I have watched people who have had great potential to really make huge things happen give it all away for nothing. I have spoken to friends and family about business ventures that could potentially change the course of their lives. ( I know, friends and family. But they should know about your game to.)

And was met with utter failure.

Inside the past couple years I have noticed a trend among the ones who are still with us in the internet/network marketing industry, and those who have passed the torch on to another “noob” who is going to either make the choice for success, or walk the internet marketing unemployment line.

I myself chose success from day uno. I decided that the life I was living was precisely the life I truly did not want to live for the next 50-60 years or whenever someone else told me I was ready to retire. Being a young lad in this industry I foolishly allowed myself to fall into the trap of sitting on the sidelines and being the “Cheerleader” for everyone else.

But, after spending so much time watching, learning and interacting with all the people I possibly could, that trend became more and more evident to me. It had nothing to do with massive ppc campaigns, huge ad budgets or incredible amounts of Twitter followers.

It was more simple. It was taking these three things and engraining them into your life. It was understanding these three things that made the difference in who you are now, and the person that you are going to be very soon.

Procrastination. As you look around this industry or any other industry you will never hear the most successful people say that they sit back and waited for their success. You will never hear them say that they put things off until Monday. You will never hear them say someone handed them the golden ticket to having the business of their dreams.

Distractions. This one still amazes me everyday. People will put some of the most time consuming and unproductive activities in front of building their business, but will haul ass and risk tickets, wrecks and forgetting breakfast to get to work on time and please their boss.

Apply the factors that make you succeed at work into your business and you will change your life.

Excuses. This is by far the biggest let down for me. This is probably number one when it comes to why most people fail in their business. We all know the saying…..”Excuses are like….” But really. This business is yours. Do you really want to make excuses for why you are not having successes. In reality, when you are making excuses about your business or lack there of, you are only lying to yourself.

I heard it best when Brian Fanale said, “When you point a finger, look at the three pointing right back at you.”

So there you have it. Those are the three reasons that 99% of the people in this industry fail. It has nothing to do with training, leaders or what opportunity you are involved in. It has everything to with who you are and who you are actually going to choose to be.

Remember, every aspect of your life is a single choice. You write your own book, or maybe in this industry you write your own ebook.

  2. Jeff,

Awesome post that needed to be said.

I especially believe that distractions are the #1 cause of people failing in this industry. They aren’t focused and therefore they aren’t committed.

Make a schedule and stick to it. Create a “top 3″ list of things to get done in the day – and don’t go to bed until you finish them.

Great to get the blog juices flowing again huh?

Yes, It is very great. Hard to get through those distractions sometimes. But, you go to keep on keepin on like my buddy Joe Dirt said.

  4. Procrastination, Distractions and Excuses!!! Wow did you hit the nail on the head. We all do at least one of these from time to time, the trick is to notice it and change the behavior.

We are the bosses we need to act like it.

    Thanks for the post.

    Peace…

    Awesome Jeff,

I love posts like this over everything else out there.
Your right, it’s not a website problem, lack of time, or someone else whose to blame for failure.

It is the individual and that’s it. I have always pointed the finger in one direction when I struggled and it was into the mirror.

    Jeff,

We must be thinking alike this week. I find that I need to work on getting rid of distractions. Now that I am aware that I do let to many things get in the way of my tasks, I am more conscious about how I spend my time my business.

    Hey Jeff,
Great post. Most people understand procrastination but really don’t have a handle on the excuses and distractions. Excuses are WAY to easy. It is always someone elses fault on why something didn’t get done. That way there is no personal responsibility. Very convenient.

Distractions is the one area that many people fail to understand, like checking email for the 6th, 7th or 8th time. Yes, you need to check email but the message can wait to be answered. Answering the phone every time it rings, playing with the dog, playing with the kids, etc, etc. They fail to realize work IS work.

Keep posting materials like this and I will keep coming back.

    To Your Continued Success,
    Bill

  11. Jeff says:

Yeah Bill, email is the numero Uno distraction for most people. I have been guilty myself of being an email junky. But Like Tamra Trowbridge said in a recent post TURN OFF EMAIL ALERTS. People don’t realize that those 5-10 minutes over the course of a month add up to massive hours of work that that could be done.

    Thanks Bill

  12. Bob Howard says:

Procrastination I think is the biggest killer of all. I was guilty of this and did not even know it until I had and aha moment and form that point forward was aware of the procrastination and therefore was able to address it and change the behavior.

    Jeff,

I totally agree with everything you said and mentioned in the post…but I would just like to add that it’s absolutely critical that you have a very strong “WHY” as well.

Most people never establish this and that’s why they won’t be around a year from today…When people quit, what they are really quitting on…is their “WHY”, their goals, and their dreams.

It’s never about the money, it’s what the money can do for you.

    Great post!

    - Yo

  14. Jeff says:

I should officially change the name of the post to 4 Things. Great addition Yo. Very Very important. Thanks.

    Jeff

  15. Totally agree! Even if one is very careful in internet marketing new risks are born everyday. But somehow this also helps to make the work more interesting. I mean challenges keep us alive, right? Great read!
