There seems to be some sort of negative stigma surrounding the network marketing business opportunity industry over the past few years.Inside the article I will simply investigate why this business model has received so much negativity over the past few years.
For starters lets look at the commonly known question in the industry “Is this a pyramid Scheme”
This is really a two part question, Is this a pyramid? Is this a scheme? The reason that this question has survived such a long time is partially due to ignorance, fear and expectations.
The questions in and of themselves represent fear, the fear of buying into something that don’t work because they may fail, or even more because they may get ridiculed by the people who don’t see the vision. The ignorance is not understanding that every single corporation, small business and conglomerate is a pyramid.
Many will tell you no, but in reality there is a CEO, CFO, President, Vice Presidents, Managers, Assistant Managers and last but not least the little guy. Look at the shape of the picture that I have just painted for you, there are tons of little men, fewer assistants, even fewer managers all the way back up to the single CEO at the top of the company.
If that is not a pyramid, then I must have gotten lost in my Egyptian studies somewhere around the third grade. The problem with the corporate pyramid, is that the ones at the bottom will never make more money than the person above them. The structure is designed that way to keep the so called bottom feeders working as hard as possible to move up the corporate ladder.
“Success is a ladder that you can’t climb with your hands in your pocket.” I love this quote!
In a network marketing business opportunity it is true that the ones on the top stand the highest chance to make the most money. But honestly, there is a reason that the ones on the top make so much money. Have you heard different stories about how superstar distributor builds a seven figure business is less than a year.
He may have been at the top and this helped him achieve success, but the behind the scene story that no one heard was that he spent the last five to seven years working his tail off building a business and when his current one launched he brought a few thousand people from his previous company with him and created a huge buzz with his sponsoring, which in turn resulted in more sponsoring, which in turn created a million dollars network marketing business opportunity dream story.
Is network marketing a scheme? No, the one and only reason people see this is out of expectations. They dive into this industry and land on their belly, realize they can’t breathe and never get in the pool again. They don’t understand that this is a business OPPORTUNITY, and there are no guarantees that you will ever make a dime.
In fact, some people actually lose money as a result of their opportunity. Don’t let that deter you from the business model though, when you look around the industry and see the ones that have success, that could just as easily be you if you make a clear decision to become that person.
And Yes it is true that the failure rate of this industry is lingering around the 95-97% rate, but really the truth is that all but 3-5% of the people who come into this industry quit before they really take it upon themselves to learn how this business actually works.
This is network marketing, which means that you have to understand how to network and market. This simple little name of the industry should actually push seventy-five percent of the people who look at it away. Most people have no business even coming into this industry. Maybe that is you, maybe it is not. But don’t come with expectations that this industry really owes you a single penny.
Just because you want to be successful and you want to make a full-time income from home really does not mean a single thing. Most people who come into this industry are living hoop dreams and the odds are stacked against them 9.9 to 10.
So to answer my question about a network marketing business opportunity. Do they really work. No. You have to work, and your opportunity will be the vehicle that will give you the ride of your life.
