If you are struggling in your business and are having a hard time generating leads that are interested in what you have to offer, I have a simple solution that is hands down the easiest marketing strategy that you can ever implement into your business.
This is really the best of both worlds. You are implementing online and offline marketing together as one by taking a prospect from the offline world and turning them into a prospect in the online world.
This strategy is so simple and one that any organization can duplicate right from day one. This little gem of marketing is known as:
Drop Card Marketing.
So what is a drop card?
A drop card is similar to a business card, but is created to be “dropped” all over the place. The drop card marketing strategy that I suggest is using $100 bill drop cards. They look like a sweet little $100 bill folded up and inside has a quick for your product or business. It is really insane how little this strategy is used although it has turned huge profits in the previous years.
I love this strategy because it allows me to be marketing wherever I am. No matter if I am shopping at the grocery store, bowling, grabbing a new book from the library or eating dinner with my kids. All I have to do is pull a $100 bill drop card out of my pocket and “drop” it where I am.
I have sit and watched tons of people over the past weeks nearly dive to the floor to grab my piece of marketing gold.
Here are a few strategies that I am using right now to expose my business to people who I would NEVER of had access to if I relied completely on the internet for my business.
1. In my city we have a “Unemployment Guide”, which is simply a 20-30 page magazine that is released every month for free that helps those who are unemployed or looking for something better to find it. I know that you will typically hear that just because someone is unemployed and broke they are not good prospects, but in all actuality your opportunity could be the answer to their prayers.
Just because they are looking for a job (especially where I live) does not mean that they are broke and un motivated.
2. Opportunity Magazines- This is seriously a golden nugget for everyone. I have been taking my $100 bill drop cards and placing them between the pages of Small Business Opportunities Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Work From Home Magazine and every other make money magazine I can find. Honestly, to place an ad in those magazines is $1000’s per page and I am getting a physical fall out of the magazine ad for my business for pennies on the dollar.
3. The library- If you spend much time at the library like I do, you know that there is always tons of books about starting a business, business training, work from home, getting rich, financial planning, investing, getting a better career, etc.
I have recently started going to all the local branches instead of just my normal one just so that I can put my $100 drop cards inside those books. I am particularly fond of the Suzie Orman books because she is getting so much publicity from the big “O” Oprah that her books are flying off the shelf.
4. Using the same strategy as #3, when I am at the local bookstore, Books A Million, I am placing my cards in all the same types of books. Really, marketing does not get any easier that this. People pick up these books looking for a better way and it is like a miracle or fate that my business pitch falls right into their lap or their at their feet. Plus if they don’t like it, it will get thrown on the group for the next potential prospect to pick up.
5. Gas Stations. I have stolen this marketing strategy and a couple of the next ones from the great Cedrick Harris. Whenever you are at the pump getting some gas, just plug your drop card into the credit card slot of the pump. Someone will have to pull out your advert so that they can put their card in. Plus, like I said before, if they don’t like it they will throw it on the ground for the next potential prospect.
6. Tipping. This is a great strategy, most of the people who are in the customer service industry are perfect prospects because they know how to interact with people and for the most part they are good at it. They have a keen sense of who a person is.
Don’t you ever wander why they offer you specific things from the menu? They don’t ask a woman in a church dress if they would like a Margarita, they understand people and personality types because it is a part of their job.
7. Junk mail. The majority of the mail that you will be receiving in your mail box mail. But there is one thing about junk mail that makes it so great. Every credit card offer, financing offer or any other junk that you get always has a “no postage necessary if mailed in the U.S.
All you need to do if fold a piece of paper, stick your $100 bill drop card in and return it to the company. Honestly, it will be going to someone who works in the mailroom and I am 90% sure that they would rather be making a real living at home that suffering through opening mail every day.

Hey Jeff,
Great post on a true old-style marketing method. Dropcards are making a comeback and you have a great primer on how it use then effectively.
Keep up the great posts and I will keep coming back.
To Your Continued Success,
Bill
Jeff,
Looks like you got this marketing strategy locked down.I admire the way you broken down into individual strategies. Nicely done…
Do you recommend post card marketing?
Drop Cards and returning the pre-paid junk mail envelopes that arrive out our house back to the company with a couple business cards are a very unique method to combine both on and off line techniques.
Thanks you for your post Jeff. i enjoyed the read.
Jeff,
The more and more I read and hear about drop cards, the more tempted I am to jump in on this strategy.
I think your post here put me into the “drop card strategist” category.
Some slick strategies that you mentioned on where and how to use these cards.

Great post Jeff,
Your right it is the easiest and “best of both worlds” marketing strategy.
It is fun for me to see how creative and gutsy I can get when dispensing my drop cards.
This strategy enables a person to market their business while they are out and about doing their normal activities. Of course, this is one of the many strategies a marketer would implement in their “marketing web”.
Cheers,
~Bert
Hey Jeff,
Scott Marvin and I were working the Conquer the Internet DVD table for MLSP recently in Dallas, TX at the More Heart Than Talent event and we decided to strategically place a $100 bill drop card on the ground because they were having a Market America meeting next to our event…
Let’s just say that we had some interesting things take place.
LOL
I’m actually going to be utilizing this offline marketing strategy really soon. Great post!

P.S. You should add the Tweetmeme plugin to make your blog posts more RT friendly.
I have only been dropping for a couple weeks, but I am seeing a fairly decent return… Every should at leave give it shot for a few thousands cards. It is the easiest stuff out ther.

Jeff, this is a great article. I am one of the fortunate ones that uses drop cards. This is the coolest thing anytime I want to go and have a laugh I will go to the mall and drop drop cards and then watch what people do. You would be amazed at the things people do trying to pick up what they think is a $100.00 bill Good stuff Jeff.

It is such a fun strategy, at the mall, post office, outside of my apartment complex. My office has a window to the front of the building and I just wait…Boom…they almost break fingers and then look around to see if anyone say them…lol
Jeff
I can’t imagine getting good leads with this method though. Seems kind of cheezy to me. And…won’t you piss people off when they open it up and see your ad? Really trying to learn the ropes to get “quality” leads and sign ups. I do not want sign ups for the sake of it. I want to work with people who have desire, leadership and want to build a business.
Drop cards really do work and anyone can do it. Using them is so duplicatable and the beginner can use them.
Good post.
Bob
Mike, it is just another way to market. You can never say the right thing to the wrong person. My ads are only meant for the right person. if it upsets them….so be it. They are not who I want to work with anyways. Drop card marketing already prequalifies the lead….they know they are going to a biz opp site, and they are making a concious and physical effort…i.e putting the card in their pocket, going home and getting on the computer to see the ad.
Jeff,
I just listened to the archived broadcast of Cedrick’s drop card call. Then, I came across your post on BetterNetworker.
I love the extra places you’ve added here to put them. It gets us out from behind this computer. Like Cedrick said in the call…. HAVE FUN!
Susanna
Thank you Susanna for dropping by and leaving a comment. Glad you got some good stuff from the post.
Jeff
Hey Jeff,
I train my team to use so many of these techniques. They allow beginners and pros a like to create leads in an offline manner. For new people, they can be “in action” really quickly.
I teach people to have the phone number on the card go to an “opt-in” call, which is like a sizzle call with a direct response component. I like it better than having a website on the drop card…because many who pick up the card are interested right at that moment, and with a phone number they can literally take action right then!
Peace and Abundance,
Deborah Tutnauer
Hey Deborah, Glad to see you stopping by. That is truly a great idea. I think that in my next run of cards I am going to give that a shot to see how well it converts…Thank you for the added value.
Jeff Mitchell
Deborah, great idea with the sizzle number. Never used them.
Jeff, Deborah: I am new to offline marketing. What is best sizzle info to have on card? Thanks for the mentoring!

A very professional looking business card is really very important in promoting your business. It makes good impression among customers.`”,
I’ve just started blogging (having converted my existing static site to Wordpress), and I’ve been following your advice very closely. As a professional copywriter of over 10 years’ experience, I admire your model of providing high quality content as the basis of everything you do, and will try to emulate this approach on my blog.
Looks like many xbox enthusiasts here, I am a fan also and like to play games… my girlfriend says I play way too much, but man it’s so enjoyable. I’ve been playing callofduty: mw2 and halo for months and can’t quit! What would you fellow gamers recommend? At any rate, appears like a cool blog, is this wordpress? I’ve created a couple pages myself and it’s not easy. Thanks for taking time to writing this up.
I was barest pleased to unearth this site.I wanted to acknowledgement you an eye to this cyclopean presume from!! I unquestionably enjoying every scarcely bit of it and I deliver you bookmarked to check out brand-new stuff you post.
I’m going to coat-tail on what “Very Evolved” said… The way you connect to your audience is… Know who you are writing to. You need to pick a Target Audience and stick to them. You wouldn’t write to an audience of 14yr olds the same way you would write to an audience of 60yr olds.
Gene, the best thing to have on a drop card is something that gets a quick bit of attention and makes people want to know more. “Best Home Based Business Period” “What if I could give you 100 real $100 bills everymonth” Simple things like that. And remember that the sole purpose it to get someone in front of information.

I revere what you be suffering with done here. I like the area where you nearly you are doing this to disseminate behind but I would simulate not later than all the comments that this is working quest of you as well.
Good blog with some useful information. I will be back.
How about another story like this? Pretty good. I started doing technical writing back in college, and this had the few most critical parts of a good article, engaging and fun to read. Cheers.

I’ll come back again, and I’m also takin to your feed, thanx.
Thank you for a very clear and helpful post. I am definitely a violator of many of these rules. I often find myself conflicted when writing a blog post because I see myself writing more than people want to read, but I feel that I have to do the subject matter justice by thoroughly covering it. I feel that by following some of these rules I end up cutting out important aspects to the discussion. I guess you have to find a balance.
I just couldnt leave your website before saying that I really enjoyed the quality information you offer to your visitors… I will be back often to check up on new stuff you post!
You covered it all, not much more to say thank you for posting!
Hey, have been looking for reviews of people who know about this, and after bbrowsing the search engines, I came to your article, and it islovely write up. Too bad I took all these days getting to your site. Saved you in my bookmarks already. I shall return pretty soon. Just keep on writing your blog will get really popular.
cheers for the cool post. That was extremely revealing.
At last the € shows level of potency once more.
I Appreciate you for taking the time to discuss this topic. I like your point of view on this matter.
Great post! I just purchased 1,000 drop cards at the convention today.
You will limit your marketing efforts, if you have to ask permission to market to others.
Only the people who are interested will contact you. If not, they will throw the card down. When you talk to them…you need to ask questions to qualify them for your business. DON’T just sign someone up, just because they are breathing.
To many people worry about how things look and not results. RESULTS are the only thing that matters.
Again…GREAT POST!
I was intoduced to this Industry back
in 1994 by a Drop card that I found in a phone
booth
they work!
